You could've made it an interesting if simple online game. Not forum-based, but prompt or console-based (i.e., you choose moves in turn-based fashion).
Make it so certain moves can start a combo and boost the damage of the next move you do, while others can only be used at the end of a combo.
Maybe certain combos would cause stamina to replenish more slowly for the foe, or dizzy them briefly, while others might give you a brief power boost for your next hit or two.
Stuff like that.
Meh, this was just to kill a little time, really.
