Yep. It's a virus that made the rounds through some shared folders, it travelled pretty far in the blind community though I'm not sure where it originated.
It replicated by searching for exe files on the computer. Then for every executable it found, it renamed it to have a v in-front of the name and copied itself in place with the original name that would first run the virus and then the file it was supposed to. So if it infected notepad for example, you'd have 2 files, notepad.exe which was the virus, and vNotepad.exe which was the actual notepad.
