Moving from one commercial but abandoned product to another commercial but as of yet not abandoned product just punts the problem down the road.

If you are paying for your programming language and aren't in some very specialized domain like custom microcontrollers, you're being ripped off.

Also PureBasic *is* C with different syntax.  If you want to play with raw pointers, deal with segfaults, and not have a garbage collector, you can just go use C with SDL.  It's free and you can at least get help with StackOverflow when things inevitably break because you chose something fast at the cost of programmer productivity.

It's probably already clear by now from other posts I've made since returning, but half the community's focus is on performance, and that's very annoying.  Your productivity, not performance, is what gets projects finished.  If you're in the position of having a finished project that you need to make faster somehow, that's a good problem to have; by contrast, a fast but unfinished project is pointless.
