Re: What languages do you want to learn?
I currently speak English, and I'm more than passingly acquainted with Spanish and French. A few months with either language and I'm confident I could speak it fluently enough to do more than just get by; I'm not truly multilingual - I usually don't think in these other languages - and to a native speaker, I'd probably sound either very formal or school-taught, but I wouldn't be stumbling all over myself.
The languages I'd like to learn:
1. Mandarin or Cantanese (not sure which). The reason: it's everywhere, and it would be nice to be able to speak a language that such a large part of the world speaks.
2. Arabic: see answer 1.
3. Japanese: this is just a language that I find fascinating for some reason
4. Swedish: I routinely hear Swedish people speak English, and if they're well-practised at it, they have very little accent; this fascinates me
5. Hindi (I believe this is another really popular one)
In a lot of cases, it's just a fascination with language in general. In some, though, it's the ability to talk to more people in a language that's more comfortable for them. I wish I had time and the ability to use that time to learn all these languages, and many more besides. Alas, I don't.
