Re: Klango and ag forum

Well as I've said before I never really got why Klango focused on the development of things like the forum, blogs, groups and such, sinse those are available online in one form or another anyway. To me the most interesting bits of klango were the media catalogue, games, podcatching capabilities and the like, but after a great start these just never got updated.

I think myself Klango would've been a far more popular program if the developers had concentrated on what could not!be easily done elsewhere, rather than trying to recreate things that you could already do online.

This is why i never bothered with the community features of Klango, indeed, as I've chiefly just used it to easily play rss feeds and podcasts (I originally listened to all the varient frequencies podcasts through it), I won't have a problem even if the community end does fizzle out, sinse I can still use it as a podcatcher anyway.

As to open source, well I'm not sure on that one given the history of Klango. The original idea of Klango was not as a huge social network, but as a main engine to run games and other peaces of software. Two games, pirate memory game and haunted factory were made for it in around 2007, and the use of the sound environment and setup in those games was extremely good.

I can understand why the developers branched out into making other things for it, but I could never get why it got so focused on all the community/social stuff.

So, I doubt the developers would want to share the source for what was essentially intended as a self contained platform for games and software, that's if they haven't dropped off the map entirely.
