Re: question for the inquisitor audiogame

I've just bought the inquisitor and I'm liking the game thus far, particularly playing a character who is so not nice in a particularly awsome way big_smile.

The sound design is nice, I particularly like the way the background sounds change during conversations with other characters in the game so you get the idea of people sitting in different positions around the room, and the music is nice particularly for very dramatic moments.

I do wish there were a few more actors involved with the game sinse some voices are a little too obviously the same person, but he acts so well I don't mind and the major characters like the abbot and the librarian are certainly distinctive enough.

There seems to be a miner bug with the map in that some locations don't seem to want to be accessed sinse sometimes the two finger tap doesn't work, and also i've sometimes accidently activated the cross form of the divine help by mistake, but this isn't an issue though it sometimes can be a little confusing.

My only two problems with the game's actual design are firstly that it takes a long time to scroll through various objects, particularly when you have to listen to "use with" before your told what object you find. More crytically however I really do wish the objectives part of the game was working.

I can't help with the code business because I decided to buy the game for my Iphone so just got it from the Ap store streight off.

My only real issue is I really do wish the objectives thing  worked properly

Occasionally Father Micolas will say something like "I need to go to the stable to get a horse to go to calgares" but this seems pretty random.

Right now I'm a little stuck not because I'm stuck on a puzzle, but because I don't actually know what to do n ext.

Beware! possible game spoilers below this point, proceed only on peril of spoilment of your game.

I have made the catelist (the squirrel trap was something of a pest because of the management but examining all the objects worked out), and the next thing I seem to need to do is talk to the abbot again about the book in the library, however I can't get in to see him. I talked to the guard outside the abbot's office, and among something of an insult match he did say he wouldn't mind a drink and some grub, so I went to the kitchin to get the wine but trying to give it on the guard doesn't do anything.

I talked to the librarian, but though I got a ping as if I'd found something nothing seemed to happen, and divine help seems to be pointing me back to the larder for some reason, even though I'm not sure why to go there (I have tried pouring the wine into the Carafe but no luck).

I'm also not sure if there is something else I need to do. This is where the objectives would really help sinse they'd give you a clearer idea of what to do in the game and decrease the amount of random wandering around.

Edit: okay after divine help pointed me in random directions I did at least find out what was going on and fix the business with the librarian, so we're back on track.

Edit the second: okay got further on now, I've finished all the business with the guard (that was pretty good fun), and found the secret library. The game was very annoyingly laggy through all those audio cutscenes of Father Nickolas activating all those mechanisms, which was actually a problem sinse I did wonder whether the game had crashed at a couple of segments.

Though the music there was great and nicely ominous, the laggy nature of the scene did take away from the misteaque, sinse after you've heard the bells of doom and lots of unfortunate stone grinding noises a couple of times waiting for more isn 't so atmospheric.

That being said the sequence afterwards with Nicolas giving the Abbot what for was rather good fun, I particularly liked the rock guitars as Nickolas quite literally lays down the law.

it's odd I don't usually take to books, films or games, who's protagonist's chief feature is being hard cases, but in Nickolas case it's actually quite good fun, particularly because he is such a major religious nutcase, though likely not unrealistically so for aa member of the inquisition, and because it is sort of interesting to highlight how corrupt a lot of the medaeval church was by having a protagonist who is an ascetic with rock hard convictions.

Heck, I even found myself laughing at some of Micolas' more extreme outbursts and how his beliefs tie into the game, (the bit in the library with the brazier was really good fun).

Sort of reminds me of Lady White adder, the principle Characters' aunt from the episode of Season 2 of the British historical comedy Blackadder. The ultra protestant one who said "cold is god's way of telling us to burn more catholics" big_smile.
