Re: Does anybody know of any accessible empire building games?

Master of Orion is available on Windows and Mac, though the thread I linked only has a ready-to-run WINdows version.

There's a manual included with the zip file. It's for the original graphical version of MOO, but the concepts are the same. The command-line version is a straight port of the original, small odd behaviors  and all.

There's also a command reference file in the zip, which might prove helpful to keep open until you learn the syntax.
