CAE_Jones: That was a great post, and I'll definitely try the "time boxing" thing, which has some other name that sounds Japanese and I can't access that memory right now. Ah, Pomodoro or something, that's it! I'm always looking for ways to motivate myself, especially since I have to work from home.
What has helped me is social interaction, not just through text but hearing people's voices. And no, talking to myself doesn't help, much. Also, going to that "outside" place thing every day, especially when it's warm, helps a lot too.
When I start working, though, I just have to take a deep breath, breathe in some Stormlight, burn some Allomantic Metal, gather some Breaths, prepare my Metal Minds, draw a few Aons, and grab some miscellaneous Investiture, and just work against my natural laziness, and run through it. Sometimes listening to music helps, sometimes taking a break, without using my phone or anything and just letting my mind relax with no active input from me, helps get me ready for another time of work. I'll have to make a system of breaks and all though, I think that might help me, because sometimes I work longer at home than I do at work, because its all the same thing, the same place. Going outside and talking to people actually makes me feel more creative. All those "Learn Python!" books I have, after a while outside, suddenly seem not so hard. Suddenly I feel like I can actually do that, at least somewhat. I just have to hold on to that optimism when I get back inside to my computer, lol.
