Many years ago, I had a computer with a Asus motherboard. This motherboard came with some quite inaccessible software, where you could change a lot of the Bios settings in Windows, and then restart the computer to change the settings.
20 years ago, I heard about some motherboards which had a talking chip which speaks out any error statuses on the motherboard, but I haven't seen those in action.
One of the good things about having switched to Mac computers is that I never have to care about the bios, because there is no bios at all. All settings can be changed either from the operating system, or from the recovery system. That's a big priority for me since I live alone, and have very limited access to sighted assistance.
