Is the Soda Stream accessible?

I swear I saw somebody post about this a while back, but searching only turned up one post mentioning the Soda Stream, so I figured I may as well ask.

Is this thing accessible? It sounds like it should be, but I've just seen stuff about making drinks with it, e.g. hooking the bottle on or whatever. I wasn't going to worry about it until I found a place selling, I think, sugar free birch beer. The shipping on diet birch beer in cans is crazy, and otherwise I'd have to fly back east to get some. While I'm sure my mom would be happy for the visit, that's really not practical on a regular basis, so I haven't had birch beer in three or four years.

I notice they say in their FAQ that their bottles have a "fill line" and you should only fill up to there. Doesn't seem like the sort of thing that would be accessible, but could be an easy way to work around it that I don't know. To my knowledge I've never even been near one of them, let alone gotten my hands on one to see how they work. But man I loves me some birch beer. So I'm pretty excited about potentially getting some, if the thing's usable. So any tips, tricks, horror stories, and so on would be greatly appreciated.
