@52, you make a fair point. The "old stuff" I was referring to was things like the DIAGNOSTIC STATUS BYTE, TIME AND DATE MACHINE LAST USED, IBM - RESET CODE, FLOPPY DRIVE TYPE, FIXED DISK DRIVE TYPE BYTES... you get the idea. The CMOS memory area can be up to 2K though, so your right in that it wouldn't surprise me if manufacturers used bytes 128-2047 for random stuff.
