The part about Spanish translations is well out of date, since it only details the release up to gathering storm, but it is interesting that they split the books.
Oddly enough, I'm guessing that mattered less as the series goes on, since another reason the series tended to stall a bit, is that the books became increasingly less coherent singular stories with a defined end point for each book, and more just one larger story split into smaller chunks.
it's odd, this sort of split doesn't bother me in trilogies or quadrologies, hobb, sanderson and Williams all do it (indeed Tad williams is famous for it), but in wheel of time, I just was getting plot fatigue towards the end.
then again, my lady recently reread the series and stated when you don't actually have to wait as long between books, the lack of a definite climax doesnt' matter as much, or at least she didn't feel that way, though of course corona is making us all learn the art of patience .
