Re: The blind swordsman - a flash audio only game

Personally I actually think adding some different characters and mechanics to the game might be fun, perhaps as a sequel.

For example, nobody in the game wields a spear, yet it could provide a different sort of fight sinse instead of parrying with your sword you would need to chop the head off the spear, force the warrior to try and hit you with the shortened club and then kill them.

Also, perhaps mix up some of the dagger fighters by giving them the ability to throw their daggers at you rather than charging in like a fool.

I also notice that even with the flail, it is necessary for you to parry just before your enemy swings. It might be interesting to have a larger or heavier weapon such as a long club, or maybe even a konabo or nodachi (if we're going for the Japanese theme here (appologies for possible mangled spellings), though as the swordsman himself uses a sword and shield rather than the more usual Japanese single blade I sort of assumed it was no t just Oriental weapons.

Either way there are various options and weapon mechanics to throw the player off their stride. for example, nobody you fight is the least bitt defensive. It might be interesting to face an opponent (perhaps also a warrior with a sword and shield), who walks in slowly, and who you need to attack first to attempt to get them to parry you and thus open their guard up too much.


Actually thinking about it there is a lot you could do in terms of new opponents, though whether this is possible in the engine I'm not sure, perhaps it might have to wait for Blind swordsman Ii, subtitled "so the world isn't ready for the nose mounted crossbow?" big_smile.
