As far as I'm concerned, 1 million to 1.5 million deaths isn't a series of unfortunate accidents.
Whether it actually fits the word genocide or not doesn't change the fact that those people died for nothing, and the more I hear people downplay it the more I question their motives.
It seems very disrespectful to the victims to be arguing over specifics rather than simply taking the lesson as it is and recognizing the human cost, especially when it wasn't your ancestors who suffered through it.
What a shame that this event has been politicized so much that so many can now only focus on the surface details, essentially using these people's deaths as a bargaining chip or a weapon. Who ever has muddied the waters so much did a very good job of creating reasonable doubt, to the point that now the common people have taken over the job for them.
