i think you should use shift d, first select the audio, press shift d and you'll replace your recording for the selection. if it does'nt work, record the audio you want to replace in another audacity progect (ctrl n) then cut it and put it into that selection removing the selection with delete and then pasting THE AUDIO JUST RECORDED. i mastered completely audacity, so i can help in a lot of stuff regarding audacity
