Yeah, I agree with post 3. Forget the chords first. Bending is usually done while playing melodies and lead lines anyway.
A couple more tips for you:
To make bending easier you can put your middle finger as a support behind your ring finger. SO if your ring finger is on the 7th fret of b-string you can put your middle finger on the 6th fret. So you can, so to say, divide the work between two or even more fingers.
Once you have got the main idea down the next thing you should do is start practicing your bends being in tune. When doing the whole step bends you can reference the bent note on the b-string using the high e-string.
So, when you bend the b-string from the 7th fret up a whole step using the ring finger, you can support it with your middle finger. This leaves your index finger free and thus you can place it on the 4th fret of your high e-string, which you can use as a reference note. Hope I explained it clearly enough. smile
