Re: Old Deathmatch Games

this is a read me from game file:
As setting this up can be a bit complex, i'll try to walk you through the process using this file. This is best done on a linux machine as windows is largely untested at the present time.
For the loading of area/.ship files, you'll need an http server, something like apache should do the trick.
Before you open the server program do the following. Open your settings file in notepad. Their are 3 options here.
The first, dir is where you want ship files to get copyed for players to be able to load map files and such. Ideally, you'll place this in the http directory so that the http server can get direct access. Something like the following.
dir /var/www/dmnbserver
In that exampple you'll need to, if using linux, make a directory called dmnbserver in /var/www.
dir2 is the actual address that gets sent to connecting clients, and you'll just want to point this to the directory itself with out the /var/www/. So for exampple,
dir2 dmnbserver
And last of all is the port, the default is 1234.
When you fire the server up, to make yourself an admin char open the client and connect to your server, and create a new account. After you create a new account, log in and create a new player. Once you finished creation and your connected on inderion, log out. Open the player file, this is stored under players in the server directory. Add these lines at the top of the file.
item
itemname administration staff
item
itemname builder staff
Once you do that, save and relog back in. You should now have the admin staff and builder staff and can now build to your desire.
That's all I can think of to cover at the critical point, if anyone needs help adding a shipyard or any of that you can reach me on the audiogames.net forums via pm or the forum topic itself.
