RTR and Redspot were really the best, and both had their problems, especially Redspot.
Losing stuff isn't bad if it's easy to get it back.  IMO hoarding isn't what an FPS should be about anyway...

I didn't know that about the pump position on last round for shotguns.  I remember hearing about the leaver at some point but until you do it your self it's pretty confusing if you can't see what they are talking about.
I worry you might scare the guy off though with this specificity.  I know that ideally all people doing sounds for FPS's should be considering this kind of thing, but I don't think he's a dedicated sound designer.  Maybe you should offer to help him out with this part?  Either that or I could and if you were willing, I could consult you to fill in any blanks I have...
Know much about the sequence for assault rifles? (I know that the forward assist and charging handle comes into play for some of them) or ammo covers on machineguns?
