I have personally found plant/rock to be the easiest combination to start with, but I don't know about this beta.
Also I don't know what to think about ephemeral cards. When I heard of it I thought they could give more usefulness to Souvenir and Natural Indemnity. Perhaps that one could be played more as getting level 1 in normal isn't as hard as before, and Souvenir could be neat in the case of some ephemeral + Combo cards you may want to play again. The funiest thing I managed to do with Souvenir is to play two Flash of Genius, and then Souvenir into another double flash of genius, but I'm not sure how efficient that really is in the grand scheme of things. But it shows Psychic type is really made to support pretty much any deck, with passive intervention, double check and whatnot.
