Okay guys, let's try and resolve this PM issue.
1. The problem with trying to email somebody is that not everybody feels comfortable with giving their email address so the forum can  be a kind of safe space to remove their concerns. Remember, email addresses are highly personal information. Also, what if the person that is being messaged is not necessarily a friend? It's going to be a real chore to ask for everyone for an email address just so you can send them a PM.
Second, I think there are  only two ways to work around the issue. The first is to simply skip the topic and the second is to create a system whereby if a PM is sent, the addressee of the message will receive a notification with a link that will take them to the actual messege or even seeing the message  in their email, you know like when someone replies to your youtube comment, you get an email to say so and so has replied with their message.
