The nice thing about Windows 8 is that in most cases once an internet connection is established, it will automatically fetch any needed drivers and install them without fuss. This probably won't work with some older hardware, but you should at least have sound and be able to google around for anything that wasn't installed automatically. Also just a side note, most drivers that say they are for Windows 7 should work on 8, be aware though that the same is not true for, say, XP drivers on Windows 7. If something doesn't install, with an error that the Windows version is unknown or some such, try playing with the program compatibility page in the file properties. There was a trick to get the Windows 8.1 iso using the setup installer and you're Windows 8 product key, however I'm no longer sure of the steps you'd need to take or if it even works anymore; knowing Microsoft they've probably patched it. All the patching is pretty ridiculous, but ah well.
If you want to free up some space afterwords, at an admin command prompt type
dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase
and when that's done, delete everything in the c:\windows\software distribution folder.
