It really depends how the program is written; I have noticed that the older bsc games like hunter and classic troop will not run at all because they need the wmaudsdk.dll installed, which is not a registerable com object and when I put it in the path, the configuration programs bomb with unable to find entry point, also the registration programs bomb because they look for the windows product id in an older location and bomb with a 1536 confusion/insanity found in encrypt module... because it can't find what to encrypt because the value it's expecting returned null, no product id for ya, bubba! All in all, if the program's written to hardcode paths, uses compression that the support for decompression was lost in the annels of time, innevitabley, as new systems are released, said programs will sease to opperate or at least will be reduced to an unusable mess...
