Re: cannot access external hdd

It's possible the USB enclosure is bad. Remember, most external drives I've seen are really just a standard drive inside a custom enclosure. Also, a chip or other electronic component on the drive's logic board could have blown, in which case the drive itself might spin up just fine, but still be unusable. Once again, if this type of hardware problem exists, no software in the world will be able to help.
