If you think you are having wireless problems, I have just posted a new
plugin which tries to measure the wireless bandwidth between slimserver
and the player - which should be a more useful metric than signal
strength.

I'd welcome feedback from people having difficulty with wireless as
this was the reason for writing the plugin.

The plugin is attached to post 37 of the following thread:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=16832&page=4
It is designed for server 6.2 or later.

To use, unzip the file, put the resulting NetTest.pm into the Plugins
directory of your slimserver [C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\Plugins or equivalent]. Restart the server.

A new menu item should appear on the player Plugin menu "Network Test".
Navigate to this. Then press the down button to choose a data rate at
which to test. The player should then display the data rate and the
%age of packets which get through at this rate. The bar graph on the
right and first percentage measure the last second period. The second
percentage is the average over the whole test at this rate.

To get good performance you should be seeing 100% at the highest data
rate you want to stream files at. [e.g. flac ~1000 kbps]
