Hello, i was wondering what's the difference between the SB3 optical out and a "regular" or even "hi-class" optical out of a PC sound card...
...i mean, ok we've got all the good quality circuitry and chips in the SB2/3, but i've been reading mostly about the DAC excellence ( analogue out ), and not much about the digital out. Already bought a couple of SB3s and will be doing some testing myself in january as soon as i manage to set up my hi-fi, and obviously the SB has much more to offer than "just" the optical out plug; still i fail to grasp the reason why this particular feature is to be considered better than another ( optical out ) offering from mobo manufacturers or media cards companies. Maybe this post belongs to the "beginners" section of the forum, but i was hoping you fellow audiophiles members of the forum could share some basic info on this particular question.
