That's got JVC's hybrid digital amp in it.  I'm running a JVC 201 which
has the same amp design in a 100wpc receiver.  It sounds fine as well
and is under 200 bucks now.  

General consensus is the Panasonic class D amps sound better than the
JVC's with direct digital input, because the Panny receiver does not
convert the input signal to analog but sends the digital audio direct
to the amp chip[1]. 

The JVC's sound better with (high quality) analog input as the digital
input is run though the JVC's DAC before amplification.

So the Panny's are "special" for having an all digital signal path. 
Whether or not it sounds right for a given listener is a matter of
taste.
