I have a nearly identical setup- a PC with a 250GB HDD. Mine has a DVD drive and a CDROM drive, analog, spdif, and optical outputs. 512MB RAM, AMD-64 CPU. Gigabit LAN, firewire, 550W power supply, GeForce 6600 graphics card. It cost about $500 to put it together (OK, I used the DVD and CDR drives from the old machine). Why pay $3k for a PC dressed up as an audio box when you can trick out a PC for such use for $500?
