DAC so I'm not concerned about its internal analog circuitry.
Sound quality is most important for me. If the SB can do
a job as good as the modified Cambridge drive, I would
be more than happy. The ability to play
FLAC encoded stuff is nice but not essential. I would be
interested in your opinions comparing the SB versus other
clients feeding external DACs.

I actually can't figure out what the attraction of audiophile
CD transports are. I know some audiophile love them, but
to me the key is just to present an error free PCM stream
to the DAC, and the SqueezeBox work great for that.
I've been feeding my Benchmark DAC-1 from a SB1 for a couple
of years and I'm very happy.

I'm a happy customer who has bought three Squeezeboxes so far,
I say get one. Buy it and use the 30 day no hassle return policy.
I took my less used SB over to a friend's house last weekend,
he had already installed the SlimServer and had some tunes.
We were up and working in minutes. The only part that wasn't instant
was setting up the encryption on his WiFi net.

Of course, if you live close to me, I'll bring the same unit
over to your house for a few beers.
