IKEA LACK

I have used these cheap tables for about 15 years. The "hard core"
audiophiles in Sweden used to cut out the lower sheet from the
box-constructed table and remove the inner corrugated paper. The
resulting thin table (which still looked just like an ordinary LACK,
unless you looked underneath) was used to support turntables in a way
that didn't transmit much low frequency energy.

I just use ordinary LACK birch that i cut off the legs to suitable
lengths and stack to whatever configuration I need. This will soon come
to an end though, due to a 10 month old baby.. (Need a safer furniture
now.)

And, no, IKEA is not always out of stock! Only on the things that you
drove 100 km to get... (Why, oh why, doesn't IKEA UK do mail order??)
