I've not said anything to this point, because I don't want to be one of
"those people" who hears things that aren't there, but I remember when
I first got my SB2 being blown away by the sound, and while I'm very
happy still, after the first firmware upgrade (from 15 to one of the
20s when I was using nightly builds to get ReplayGain) the "wow" factor
went away. I know this is incredibly subjective but the commentary
about the changes to the volume settings seemed like the issue I have
had. Especially )p('s post about hearing a sonic difference on the
analog outs with the volume full tilt (which is what I've done assuming
that full volume wouldn't have exhibited the problems people were
seeing.)
I've installed the latest 6.2.2 nightly but haven't been able to listen
yet. I figured a firmware upgrade would be necessary to change the
volume behavior, so I'm curious about what the mechanism could be to
change the behavior the way )p( says it does. Again, I am intriuged
enough to try it myself, but a little baffled as to what could have
changed without new firmware. . .
