Not a bad thought, but I'm real happy with my current preamp and don't want to replace it. My Shanling going through my current SS preamp/power amp is magical into my Maggies. Largly in part to the tube source. The Shanling can take a redbook CD or a Mapleshade and come across with real feeling where the SB2, although wonderful, delivers music a little sterile. I don't think this is fault of the SB2. The Shanling has tube and SS outputs. The tube is magic, the SS is accurate and good, but I prefer the tube magic... That's why I looking at a tube buffer for the SB2.
