I think this is a good post, unfortunately I'm too green to actually know. >From the SPDIF 16 or 24 thread below, I assume that listening at settings below '-35 db or approximately setting #12 or #16' might degrade resolution. If you have a sensitive input on your 250W power amp, lots of the usable range might also be below that setting. I had always set the volume on my integrated to *almost* unbearably loud at #40 (full volume setting on SB), thinking I might limit potential speaker damage, as well as keep my most used range between settings #20 and #40.
