Nah, those are more like the quick & dirty way. They're specific to 1/4" plug audio cables too. I assume that you're going to be using RCA cables. In that case, you want to put the resistor in series with the center conductor, and leave the outer conductor intact. The wiring for the center conductor is:
R---(1kOhm)---\ >-------Sub L---(1kOhm)---/ R and L are the subwoofer outputs of your crossover.
