One way to reduce jitter would be to do the Scientific Conversions transformer modification. This would keep the SPDIF format already supported by the SB, but would use transformer coupling on the digital out - SC has some white papers that shows how this reduces overall jitter. I just did this mod after following GaryB's thread on his SB3 mods.
