My point is that MP3 reduces or eliminates the PHASE relationship between channels to achieve certain level of compression depending on the chosen bitrate.
The results are a lack of "ACCUracy" compared to the source. Precisely what the Accuphase engineers were trying to preserve when designing that gear. And pretty much all high-end designers for that matter. "sharp edges" created by the playback equipment (not on the original recording) are objectionable. But accuracy also means that a recording will not be "softened" or "sweetened" when reproduced. -- crooner Squeezebox 3 Lite Audio DAC60 tube DAC Pioneer SX-1980 Vandersteen 2Ce Signature Vandersteen 2W ------------------------------------------------------------------------ crooner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3379 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21173 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
