It might have worked because the HT2000 has some connection between the shield and earth of the power, thereby reducing the ground differences between your components. If all the components are at the same ground potential, there will be no hum (except perhaps mechanical hum from transformers). So if this works and puts the hum at an unaudible level, you can skip the Jensens. Congrats.
