I would use passive attenuators in your case. I have a pair made by Scott Endler. Just google "Endler Attenuators". A pair of 24-step attenuators costs $160, and they plug into the amp's RCA jacks. He can also make balanced attenuators, if you need them, but they cost a little more. On my amp, without the attenuators, the SB3 volume would have to be reduced to 20 or lower, which I think is not a good idea. As is, I have the attenuators dialed to 7:00 (in other words, a little more than half), and my SB3 volume is usually around 35.
