Recording LP in top quality demands very good equipment, and setting
things up properly. (LP equipment include: Turntable, pickup-arm,
pickup, phono amplifier.) Recording is done in real-time. Some of the
dust and scratches that one might accept when listening to LP "live"
might be deemed unacceptable when transferred to CD, so post-processing
of any major pops might be necessary. Today, given the major effort
involved, I would try to record to better-than-CD quality (24 bit,
96kHz at least).
