Just got my Parasound A23 today. Man, what a huge difference! Although it's not necessarily a good one. It's replacing an AudioSource Amp Two, and I assumed the Parasound would kick it's ass. Well, in the first few minutes I've been listening, I realized two things. First, amplifiers can definitely "sound" different. I always believed the differences everyone talks about are subtle, but gosh, I was completely wrong. It's night and day. I can already tell some things that I like better (while I'm listening to Norah Jones): Imaging is fantastic, instruments and voices more 3-D than before. Now, something that may have been lost a little: bass and detail. Everything sounds a little softer. It's hard to define. Now I know what people mean when they can't say whether one amp is clearly better than another. There's so many different criteria to judge. Well, this experience confirms it. I'm a born-again audiophile.
