Go easy, guys, he did say LOSSLESS WMA.

But, steelee, the bit rates you mention aren't really relevant. The WMA
bit rate is lower than the WAV bit rate because the file is moderately
compressed (just like FLAC or other lossless formats).

For one lossless format (WMA or FLAC or WAV) to sound different to
another one, there would have to be a bug in the decoding software on
the SB, which is of course conceivable but you'd need some serious
evidence to convince people.  In the past, I think some people with
similar concerns have gone so far as to do a digital comparison of the
digital output of the SB for different formats fed in, and found them
to be identical [NB - this test would probably fail in your case as
you've used different rips - the original source WAV would have to be
identical for this to be a fair test]

Just one thing occurs to me that you might have accidentally introduced
- if you have bit rate limiting set on the player settings, slimserver
would be helpfully transcoding WAV to MP3 for you, which would probably
sound worse. Just verify the bitrate that the player is receiving to
check this one.
