Tell me about it.... I had ESL 63's before, was very pleased and I
managed to get them under the WAF limit by building a sort of open
bookcase (open back) with fake doors with radiator cover rattan mesh.
Didn't distort the sound too badly, and I could open the doors for
serious listening.
Then I got the upgrade bug - got the 989's - they are too big to put in
a "fake bookcase". I now owe my wife a really big one...

I'm still not 100% convinced by the Quad propaganda though, that these
are full range speakers (they said that about the 63's as well and they
were clearly not). So I've kept my REL subwoofer and set it to kick in
at the lowest possible frequency. As a tradeoff between frequency range
and distortion, it's ok.
