I have recently started using a Denon AVR-2805 receiver (so not quite
the same but presumeably similar). I connected up my SB2 using both
analog and digital (coax) cables... I had expected the digital link (ie
using the Denon's DAC) to be better, so got some half-decent digital
cables made up.

However, when I did some switching between the two, I found a clear
preference (to my ears) for the analog connection (ie using the SB
DAC), despite the fact that I am using some very cheap cables for the
moment. This was using "Direct" mode on the receiver.

I don't possess the audiophile vocabulary to try to describe the
difference, so I won't. I will say that I am VERY happy with the sound
I'm getting.

YMMV
