Agreed - can't send the actual CD subcode as it is not stored in the ripped files. [I think emphasis and copy control is channel status not subcode - http://www.epanorama.net/documents/audio/spdif.html] The issue in the links is that for a standard CD transport sending consumer mode subcode data, there are spectral components seen on the spdif receiver's PLL which are diagnosed as being due to repeating patterns in the subcode. So you could claim SB as better than a CD transport...
