There's no need for a DAC with the Panny.  That's what's unique about
the Panny line of digital amps, i.e. that they keep the input  signal
in the digital domain until the final gain stages, and as a result are
known for sounding excellent with digital input.  Using a fancy DAC
with the Panny would be a waste of money, imo.  

I do believe that the Pannys are relatively unique in their design
though.  Julian links to a TI Equibit-based amp above.  This is the
same tech that Panasonic uses in the their digital line.

Most seperate power amps take analog input, and thus an "external" DAC
is required.
