I have been using some Acoustic Energy Aego M units in my study, consisting of very small solid satellites (approx 100mm tall) which sit on the desk with the powered sub below (as I write I can't find a tape measure but it would be about 300m high ) this has a knob for setting the volume range conveniently right at the top. Truly excellent quality, the transparency and general tonal quality driven from my SB3 are amazing - knocks spots off my main system with some 26 yr old speakers (called RAM 150 BTW), have ordered another SB to avoid the need for swapping between rooms, also a speaker upgrade this year is highly likely methinks!
