You are asking one of the questions that haven't really been answered
in this forum.

There are at least one member (of this fine forum) that has measured
the load of the squeezebox, and it showed that the maximum load is
about 1A.

There has been many heated discussion on whether a new power supply
will improve the sound quality or not. There are 3 choices that are
popular (as far as I understand it...):

1. Buy an Elpac unit.
2. Bua a Power One/Lambda/other 5V/3A unit and build a power unit
around it.
3. Buy a high-end power supply from Red-Wine, Boulder or another
High-End "modder" company.

I have bought a 3A linear unit from Farnell InOne (part# 4893724, Calex
32005A), and I am convinced does improve the sound quality.

>From what I gather is that the majority of people who have gone for
choice 2 or 3 have experienced an imrovement in sound quality, but the
opinion is divided on choice 1. Why, I don't know? And I don't dare to
speculate because then the flamewars starts all over again...
