Well, except that the difference wasn't exactly less noise--the levels were roughly the same--it was just that the noise spectrum from the cheap cables was a bit more interesting. Also the level was so low that even with my amp (120 w/channel) maxed, from the listening position the noise wasn't as loud as many other noises around my apartment, such as the refrigerator fan from another room.
