*I* didn't slag anyone off (not that I entirely know what that means, but I suspect I get the point).
I'm the one who gave you a serious answer, that operating the squeezebox at a different firmware level than the server is expecting can lead to protocol problems. Humour abounds in the Slim forums. Lots of gentle teasing, self-mocking, an april fools joke announcement every year (the one this year made fun of a number of people, but I was one of them - the reference to the K.N.O.B. device is about the fact that I keep asking for a dial or knob on the remote). I thought the "sound of one hand clapping" comment was mildly amusing. I don't see it as slagging anyone off. No one said you were mad. Perhaps there is an audible difference going back to FW15. Perhaps there isn't. It is in the nature of accoustic perception that some people hear things others don't. It has nothing to do with insanity. My girlfriend laughs at me that I hear a tap dripping 2 rooms away. She doesn't hear it. To her, what I'm hearing is the sound of one tap dripping. It really seems unnecessary to take such comments more seriously than they are intended. When you wrote "you have stumbled into the wrong forum section", I could only take that as meaning "this forum section doesn't tolerate mild humour". Hence my Danté comment. I wouldn't chose to backlevel the firmware, especially in light of the warnings in other threads on this forum. I mean, think about it. We've been told time and time again that the slimserver software mediates the firmware up- and down- grades. How do you know it's even safe to run some other software to load stuff into your Squeezebox. How do you know you aren't going to brick it? So I wouldn't do it. But I didn't call you names for it. In fact, I didn't see anyone call you names here in this thread for it. Just a little gentle teasing. Just grin and go on. All it was done for was laughs. -- Michaelwagner ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Michaelwagner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=428 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23545 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
