Anyone have any idea if the internal DAC can still get 16bits when using server attenuation?. I know the player has to be at 40(max) to send 16 rather than 24 bits, but does server attenuation and replay gain affect the data differently? Sorry for redundancy if applicable. egd; RE: damage control If you've got a preamp volume control you can set it to the highest level you'd want your speakers to experience when the Squeezebox is at max volume. Then you can use the Squeezebox at ideal levels (settings 37-40 IME)- while not risking as much harm to your speakers. Even a burst of white noise will only be as loud as the preamp allows. The server attenuation function is the last thing you want to rely on if you're scared of glitching death. A good example of this is the fact that I noticed less noise when using the skip track button after eliminating server attenuation. -- Skunk ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Skunk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2685 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23685 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
