I went for the full analogue mod with platinum caps etc. I am using a DIY power supply measuring excactly 5v out. This does improve the sound slightly, it tightens the bass and smooths the highs, but in comparison to the mods it is minimal. With the modded unit every aspect is improved, it really is beyond what you would think the SB is capable of. Bite the bullet and get the mods and power supply.
